Chaney Enterprises has received the Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake Chapter and the American Concrete Institute of Maryland Excellence

Chaney Enterprises has received the Associated Builders and Contractors Û Chesapeake Chapter and the American Concrete Institute of Maryland Excellence in Construction Awards. Winner of the Specialty/Supplier and Tilt-Up categories of these award programs, the Waldorf, Md.-based producer was recognized for materials and service provided in the tilt-up construction of South Plaza Shopping Center in Lexington Park, Md. A total of 3,533 yards of concrete was delivered for the project without a single rejected load. Working with Chaney Enterprises, contractor Precision Concrete was able to finish the structure within 120 days, exceeding its goal of completing construction in six months.

Spancrete Group, Inc. recently announced completion of two building expansions at its Valders, Wis., and Crystal Lake, Ill., production facilities. The newly expanded operations will provide increased manufacturing capacities for the company’s structural and architectural product lines. At Valders, architectural and structural wetcast product lines were targeted; in Crystal Lake, the focus was on Spancrete hollowcore plank. Both facilities are certified by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. This fall, guided tours will be offered at both sites, as well as at the company’s Waukesha, Wis., flagship plant. Fabcon recently named Bill Shugars general manager of its Pennsylvania operation. He will supervise and manage plantwide operations, including maintaining safety standards and enhancing ongoing automation projects. A 25-year veteran in the construction industry, Shugars joins Fabcon after serving as director of manufacturing at Mark Line Industries, which specializes in manufacturing commercial modular buildings, such as office trailers, schools and clinics.

Ameron International Corp., Pasadena, Calif., has sold its Performance Coatings & Finishes business to PPG Industries. The exit will allow us to redeploy resources to three remaining consolidated businesses where we have leadership positions, notes Ameron Chairman James Marlen. Ameron will remain a solid, focused company with enhanced growth opportunities in the infrastructure, water and energy sectors, through its Fiberglass-Composite Pipe, Water Transmission and Infrastructure Products businesses and Tamco, the latter entity a joint venture rebar fabricator.
