The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute board of directors has awarded Unilock’s Ed Bryant and Uni International’s Fritz von Langsdorff honorary memberships, recognizing their contribution to the paver industry. Bryant has provided leadership in developing one of the first paver manufacturing companies in North America. He led the growth of Unilock to seven locations in the U.S. and Canada. Transferring technology from Europe, the company has been a leader in product development and, under Bryant’s leadership, strongly promoted awareness of concrete pavers among design professionals. A founding member of the North American UNI Group in 1974 and the Concrete Paver Institute in 1990, now known as ICPI, Bryant helped advance the industry, especially by challenging it with more sophisticated products and marketing.

The founder of Uni International, Fritz von Langsdorff promoted the paving stone industry worldwide, supporting it with research as well. His designs include vertical interlocking pavers, shapes designed specifically for mechanical installation, and permeable interlocking concrete pavement. Von Langsdorff purchased the Uni-stone patent in 1964 and, through the German UNI Group he founded in 1967, made it a commercial success. His creativity resulted in several hundred patents, designs and trademarks for concrete pavers and segmental retaining walls.
