The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has introduced ConcreteTech, a video training series covering key technical and testing matters and programmed as a companion to ready mixed producers’ formal or informal training. Upcoming videos will include discussions on sampling, slump procedures, testing for air content, high strength concrete, and mix temperature. The first in the series is entitled Preparation of 4″ _ 8″ Compression Test Specimens, a portion of which can be viewed on NRMCA’s website, www.nrmca.org. The 14-min. video details the steps and procedures that an ACI Grade I Field Testing Technician (or equivalent) should follow in preparing ASTM C31 specimens.

The videos are presented by NRMCA’s Senior Director of Operations and Compliance Gary Mullings, a certified concrete technologist with 32 years at the association. He is chairman of the Concrete Density Task Group for American Society of Testing and Materials and a member of ASTM Committee C-9 on Concrete. Mullings is also an active member of the American Concrete Institute, the National Safety Council and the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council. A principal instructor for the NRMCA Short Course on Concrete and Aggregates, the Environmental Course, the NRMCA Safety Course, Plant Manager Certification Course and NRMCA’s Dispatcher Training Course, Mullings has provided instruction for thousands of students.
