Hartford City, Ind.-based Hartford Concrete Products, Inc., an employee-owned corporation and fabricator of precast components, marks its 70th year in business in 2006. Started by the Schantz family in 1936 as a supplier of concrete burial vaults and septic tanks, the company was the first precast producer nationwide to achieve dual certification from the National Precast Concrete Association and ISO 9001 (International Organization for Standardization).
Although burial vaults are no longer in its product portfolio, Hartford Concrete continues to grow by serving the water management, transportation, general construction, and telecommunications markets. Its manufacturing facilities in Hartford City and Ashley, Ind., specialize in precast utility manholes, preassembled meter vaults, tunnels, trenches, water management products, Redi-Rock retaining walls, concrete universal enclosures (CUE), and controlled environment vaults (CEV).
Hartford Concrete President and CEO J.D. Collins affirms, The vision that the Schantz family established decades ago for Hartford Concrete to be at the forefront of innovation, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction remains with us today. The company is poised to introduce new products to a targeted cross section of construction market segments this year that will continue to profitably grow our market share and presence within geographic markets.
