Since two brothers from Indiana started a concrete company in Spokane, Wash., 100 years ago, Wilbert Precast, Inc., has supplied a variety of precast concrete products to the inland Northwest. Dan Houk, the fourth generation owner and manager of Wilbert Precast, continues the family tradition established by his great grandfather and great-great uncle who started the company in 1906, producing hitching posts, horse-watering troughs, and burial vaults.
Wilbert has grown from a small enterprise in Spokane with only a few workers to a regional precaster employing over 80 people in three facilities, including Yakima, Wash., and Lewiston, Idaho. Developing and diversifying its product line over the decades, the producer now supplies a range of precast products for customers Û including underground utilities contractors, building contractors, funeral homes and cemeteries Û throughout eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana.
