The North American Concrete Alliance will host a legislative conference May 16 in Washington, D.C., focusing on issues specific to cement and concrete. The tentative schedule calls for a National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Government Affairs Committee meeting in the morning, with an NACA Legislative Issues Session (driver training funding, sustainability, rail competition legislation) in the afternoon. In addition to NRMCA, Alliance members include American Concrete Pavement Association and Portland Cement Association.
The conference prefaces the May 17-18 annual Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In, which will bring together Alliance members; TCC co-chairs Associated General Contractors of America and American Road and Transportation Builders Association; and related materials, product and contractor groups with a stake in federal transportation construction programs. The Fly-In opens with an afternoon legislative briefing followed by an evening Capitol Hill reception. The second day begins with a breakfast program leading into participants’ meetings with their Congressional representatives.
The events will be based at the J.C. Marriott Hotel in Washington and carry a $175 registration fee. Online registration for the event can be completed at www.blueskyz.com/tcc2006. Additional information can be obtained from NRMCA’s Kevin Voelte; 888-846-7622, ext. 1152; [email protected].
