CXT Inc., a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based L.B. Foster Co., has obtained permits for a prestressed concrete cross-tie plant on a 12-acre site within Union Pacific’s Tucson, Ariz., rail yard. The 35,000-sq.-ft. facility will add to capacity from existing Spokane, Wash., and Grand Island, Neb., operations. In a late-January announcement, Foster noted a summer 2006 start for Tucson, which will use Grimbergen long-line concrete-tie production technology.
Foster also produces branded Retained Earth System precast panels for structural applications and sound control, and CXT Concrete Buildings, offering modular precast. The product lines are served by the two-plant Spokane flagship facility, plus Hillsboro, Texas (buildings), and Lakeland, Fla. (panels), properties.
