The National Precast Concrete Association has announced changes in its Plant Certification program, and encourages audit-minded producers to examine a revised version of the NPCA Quality Control Manual for Precast Concrete Plants. A pdf of the manual was recently posted as a free download at the association’s Web site, www.precast.org. New to the manual are:
- Improved requirements for self-consolidating concrete mix production
- Upgraded manhole and concrete pipe production standards
- Box culvert requirements
- Gasket, connector and sealant quality assurance requirements
The updates appearing in this version take effect January 2006. All certified plants should transition their operations to conform to the new requirements as soon as possible, NPCA officials affirm. Questions on the manual or certification audits can be directed to NPCA’s Dean Frank, P.E., director of industry standards and certification programs; 317/582-2326; [email protected]
