The Portland Cement Association is seeking nominations for its tenth biennial Bridge Awards Competition. Cosponsored by PCA and Roads & Bridges magazine, the program recognizes excellence in design and construction of concrete bridges.
Eligible for the competition is any bridge Û highway, railway, or pedestrian Û whose basic structural system is concrete. Entries for cast-in-place or precast bridges featuring short, medium, or long spans are welcome. Newly constructed, reconstructed, or widened structures also qualify for the judging. To be eligible, structures must have been essentially completed between June 2004 and March 2006 in the U.S. or Canada. Public and private organizations may submit as many bridges as desired.
Submitted entries will be evaluated by a jury of distinguished professionals, including representatives from the Federal Highway Administration and state departments of transportation. Contest cosponsors will announce the winning projects at the American Concrete Institute Fall Annual Convention, Nov. 5-9, 2006.
