Dallas-based Trinity Industries reports that its Transit Mix Concrete & Materials Co. subsidiary has acquired for an undisclosed sum the ready mixed, asphalt and aggregate operations of Armor Materials, retaining certain Armor principals to continue in management roles. The east Texas operations reported 2006 sales of about $55 million and join Beaumont, Texas-based Transit Mix's network of 14 aggregate and 100-plus ready mixed plants serving Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

“These businesses complement our Construction Products Group and strengthen our east Texas market position,” says Trinity Chairman and CEO Timothy Wallace. The acquisition provides entry into the Texas asphalt business, he adds, where management sees growth potential in select markets.
