Owned and operated by the New York State Bridge Authority, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge — one of the country's longest continuous-deck truss bridges — recently underwent rehabilitation. The project involved widening the deck from 26 feet to 40 feet, while reducing overall dead load. Transpo Industries' Visi-Barrier, a precast polymer concrete panel shell, was used as a stay-in-place form, protecting the lightweight concrete from road salt and moisture, while maintaining the aesthetics of the structure.

Following completion of the bridge rehab, the New York State Bridge Authority decided to refurbish the toll plaza. Plans involve installing Visi-Barrier on grade as a two-sided median safety barrier. For that purpose, Visi-Barrier panels will be mounted back to back, and the intervening space will be filled with conventional concrete. Further increasing the high visibility of bright, white polymer-concrete panels is a retro-reflective safety stripe along each surface. Contractor Slutzsky expects the project will be completed this year.
