Technology and truck providers converge on auto-status solutions
Command Alkon, McNeilus Cos. and Trimble Mobile Solutions plan to integrate emerging wireless and fleet management technologies for mixer and dump fleet operators. As part of an agreement announced Oct. 7, Command Alkon and Trimble will work together to market the MRM (Mobile Resource Manager) auto-status solution to Command Alkon customers as well as provide new customers with a bundled vehicle and office enterprise package for fleet management. In addition, Trimble has granted an intellectual property license to Command Alkon to support customers of auto-status signaling products. Both companies will work with McNeilus and its parent, Oshkosh Truck Corp., to promote and extend the technologies.
McNeilus originally teamed up with Trimble in 2002 to launch the Telvisant MRM platform, integrating GPS and wireless-enabled vehicle location and status reporting functions with fleet management software packages. Command Alkon, which plans to continue supporting a separate vehicle-status product called Commandsignal, has an established supplier arrangement with McNeilus for ready mixed batch plant controls.
