Scott Phillips has been appointed president of the Hiab business area of Cargotec, effective October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. He joins Cargotec from General Electric, where his assignments included chief executive of Mining, and previously held leadership roles at Caterpillar Inc. and Sandvik.

Separately, Cargotec’s Kalmar business has broken ground with developer Landmark Enterprises on a Class A industrial build-to-suit project in North Charleston, S.C. Scheduled for early-2019 opening, the new Customer Experience Center will feature a 15,000-sq.-ft. showroom and training facility, plus a 70,000-sq.-ft. demonstration area for Kalmar’s North American mobile equipment business. Fully paved in concrete, the latter will enable customers and dealers to test drive machines and engage in related training efforts.

Kemco Systems, Clearwater, Fla. has added Katie Giroud to its marketing team, bringing seven-plus years’ experience with an emphasis on digital marketing.

Also in Clearwater … Precast/prestressed magnetic formwork and mold equipment specialist Ratec LLC has appointed Georgia-based iwi Group LLC as exclusive U.S. and Canada representative. With German parent company backing, Ratec has been present in the North American market for 20-plus years, and manufactures all products for the region in Florida, including tilting and stressing tables, plus special mold solutions for retaining walls, beams, columns and stairs.

A long-time source of precast concrete production accessories, ALP Supply has rejoined AltusGroup as an Innovation Partner to lend members its expertise and technical support. As A.L. Patterson, ALP Supply was one of the original Innovation Partners, underscoring its commitment to the organization by incorporating AltusGroup’s signature product, the CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panel, in its Pennsylvania headquarters expansion.

ALP Supply will team with AltusGroup precasters on development and refinement of proprietary anchorage and bracketing systems for the Arcis line of precast/prestressed panels, geared to rainscreen, façade enclosure and decking applications. Utilizing non-corrosive stainless steel cable in a novel fabrication process, Arcis technology delivers a versatile, lightweight panel (as low as 9 lbs./sq. ft.) that offers the strength and aesthetic qualities of conventional precast concrete. The panels offer crack control and durability at thicknesses not available with alternative cement-based products, and are competitive with metal cladding systems, terra cotta and natural stone alternatives.

Pennsylvania-based A-Lok Products has appointed Dave Swanson as business development manager, bringing nearly 30 years’ experience in precast concrete operations, marketing, sales and executive capacities.

iQ Power Tools, manufacturer of premium power tools with integrated dust collection systems, has joined Sphere 1, a national cooperative of independent tool, fastener, and concrete accessory distributors. “[iQ] products bring something exclusive to our members,” says Sphere 1 President Rob Moe. “The firm’s proprietary line of dry saws with integrated dust collection prompted our board to create a ‘Power Equipment & Silica Collection’ category specifically for them. After a six-month vetting process and learning about iQ’s commitment to training and safety, we believed it was a perfect fit as one of our Preferred Suppliers.”
