Maryland-based Chaney Enterprises has promoted Francis H. (Hall) Chaney, III from executive vice president to president, where he assumes responsibility for all ready mixed concrete, aggregate, construction material and supply operations.

“Hall has clearly exhibited over his 17-year tenure at Chaney Enterprises that he has the leadership qualities, character, competence, work ethic and belief in the ‘Chaney way’ to assume the significant responsibility as president,” says predecessor William F. Childs, IV, who continues to serve as chief executive officer.

Hall Chaney represents the third-generation to lead the company founded in 1962 by his grandfather, Eugene “Babe” Chaney, and later led by his father, Francis H. Chaney, II, who currently serves as chairman of the board. Reporting directly to Childs, Hall Chaney III is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the producer’s success and sustainability. Childs, who joined the company in 1992, became president in 1998 and was named CEO in 2000, will maintain full responsibility for the overall performance of Chaney Enterprises, its partners and affiliates. His efforts will be focused on strategic initiatives, national industry initiatives and relations, legislative matters and personnel development.

A resident of Davidsonville, Md., Hall Chaney III is a graduate of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree in logistics and supply chain management. He also holds a master’s degree in real estate and development from the Colvin Institute at the University of Maryland.

Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete, Mokena, Ill., is teaming with homebuilder PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program by donating materials and concrete to build a mortgage-free home in suburban Chicago for retired U.S. Army Sergeant Broderick Richmond and his family. A Chicago native, Sgt. Richmond joined the Army in 2006 and served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was wounded in Afghanistan in 2008 and is a Purple Heart recipient.

Sgt. Richmond applied for a mortgage-free home through the Military Warriors Support Foundation, a nonprofit charity providing support for the nation’s combat wounded heroes through home donation, academic and employment assistance, and recreational activities. He and his wife, Terrica, learned about their new home at a surprise, mid-October groundbreaking ceremony in Yorkville’s Autumn Creek subdivision. The two-story, 2,600-sq.-ft. home will be built and decorated by PulteGroup’s partners and vendors toward a scheduled April 2017 completion.

Separately, Ozinga RMC has been ranked among 2016 Top Workplaces, making it the third consecutive year the ready mixed producer has been honored by the Chicago Tribune. Top Workplaces lists are based on the results of an employee feedback survey by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement.

With 1 million square feet of gaming, lodging, entertaining, dining, retail and parking space, MGM Resorts International’s MGM National Harbor property is a showcase for sustainability on the eastern shore of the Potomac River, just south of Washington, D.C. Project principals’ pursuit of LEED Gold certification compelled Aggregate Industries US to recommend 25,000 yd. of fly ash-rich ready mixed concrete for the foundation package. The producer supplied all aggregate for the project’s 150,000 yd. of concrete, produced by three on-site batch plants. Aggregate Industries capped its contract delivering 3,000 yd. of ready mixed for MGM National Harbor’s decorative terraces, walkways and entryways, plus access road and parking lot asphalt and paving services.

The Virginia Division of Tindall Corp. recently completed construction of its 300th parking structure. The 735-car facility is the third parking structure the division has completed for Howard Community College in Columbia, Md., and is an expansion of the initial deck built in 2006. Featuring buff-colored, multi-faceted exterior elements and three complex connector bridges, it provides much needed parking for the growing college.
