Weaver Precast chief names two new partners in phased ownership transition

Janessa Weaver and Director of Operations Doug Pfautz have joined President and CEO Gary Weaver as partners in Weaver Precast and Superior Walls by Weaver Northeast, an Ephrata, Pa., operator entering its 60th year of business. Through 20 years with Weaver Precast, Pfautz has served in various operational, sales and customer service roles. Janessa Weaver has worked for her father’s company for 10 years, and is transitioning to the role of director of Sales.

Cemex USA and Rinker Materials veteran Karl Watson Jr. has joined Denver-based Summit Materials as executive vice president and chief operating officer, succeeding Douglas Rauh. He arrives at the ready mixed, cement, aggregates and asphalt producer with 25-plus years in construction materials, most recently serving as president of Martin Marietta Materials’ Cement & Southwest Ready Mix business.

Sika Corp. dedicated an admixture and mortar production facility near Houston late last year. Geared to Texas and Southwest markets, the plant is the company’s 22nd in the U.S. and equipped for production of polymers central to high performance admixtures.

BFS opens HawkeyePedershaab to bigger manufactured-concrete picture

A merger with BFS Betonfertigteilesysteme GmbH positions HawkeyePedershaab Concrete Technologies Inc. to expand its concrete pipe and manhole machinery presence, and offer new product lines serving the pressure pipe, manhole, pole plant, and block & paver end-markets.

ORGANIZATIONS - JANUARY 2018

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Operations, Environmental and Safety Committee begins 2018 with a new name: Safety, Environmental and Operations Excellence (SEO) Committee. The NRMCA Board prompted the change while also creating the Work Force Development Committee, responsible for human resource matters specific to ready mixed concrete, and superseding the former OES HR Task Group.
