MANUFACTURERS - JULY 2020

Hawaiian Cement has unveiled plans for a $6.5 million shipping facility along Pier 2 in Kahului Harbor, doubling cement storage capacity to 6,000 tons. As noted in a Maui News report, the project will carry into 2021 and entail construction of two 90-ft. silos, a 1,750-sq.-ft. warehouse, truck loading area, plus equipment and bagging rooms. Two new underground pipelines will connect the new silos to Pier 3.

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is recognizing 975 of the nearly 1,500 producer member plants entered into the 2019 Excellence in Safety Awards Program. The record number of plants spans Gold (918 recipients), Silver (five) and Bronze (52) categories defined by Occupational Safety and Health Administration and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics incident rate (IR) thresholds.

Valdosta Lowndes County Development Authority directors have approved an agreement under which Bates Precast Concrete, Inc. will invest up to $5 million in a new Lake Park Industrial Park office and production facility, increasing drainage and utility structure offerings from a present 6.4-acre Lake Park, Ga. site.

Pathfinder Systems marks partner Tiger Machine’s seven decades

Michigan-based Pathfinder Systems is recognizing 70 years in operation for longtime manufacturing and technology development partner Tiger Machine of Okayama, Japan. Once established in its charter farm implement sales, servicing and repair business, Tiger Machine branched into concrete in the early 1960s, developing the country’s first mixer and hydraulic block making equipment.
