Through Texas subsidiary Redi-Mix LLC, U.S. Concrete has acquired the assets of Custom-Crete—61 volumetric mixers and 11 concrete plants serving Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio markets—from Oldcastle Architectural Inc. The mid-October transaction marks a rare U.S. asset disposal for Oldcastle parent, CRH Plc.NS-CustomCrete-400

The Custom-Crete business is the largest of its kind in Texas and ushers Redi-Mix, a principal Dallas-Fort Worth ready mixed producer, into the state’s other major metropolitan markets. The volumetric mixer-geared plant locations position Redi-Mix to better serve existing customers and gain additional accounts through new product offerings.

“Serving the top four urban markets in Texas is an exciting step for U.S. Concrete,” says CEO William Sandbrook. “I am extremely pleased that we are entering new, high growth markets ... We welcome the Custom-Crete employees, with their strong safety culture and commitment to excellence, to the U.S. Concrete family.”

The Custom-Crete asset purchase follows a series of bolt-on transactions U.S. Concrete has effected for Redi-Mix and its west Texas platform business, Ingram Concrete LLC. The latest transaction is concurrent with U.S. Concrete’s announcement of an acquisition and leases bolstering aggregate supply and distribution for its metro New York and New Jersey business, Eastern Concrete Materials.
