The mixer- and dump-suited Cat CT660 will anchor a new heavy-duty truck series to be unveiled at the 2011 ConExpo-Con/Agg, opening March 22-25 in Las Vegas. Caterpillar will offer heavy-duty Cat Vocational Day Cab Trucks with Cat engines, CT11 (330–390 bhp) and CT13 (410–475 bhp), in a range of torque capabilities. Additional details on the new engines, including their EPA 2010-compliant exhaust treatment methods, are forthcoming.

Options for the CT660 will include the Cat CX31 torque converter style automatic transmission, with three standard locations for rear power take off drive positions, plus Eaton manual or UltraShift Plus automated manual transmissions. “These trucks are everything the Cat brand represents in terms of quality, durability, reliability, and driver ergonomics,” says Cat Vocational Truck Product Manager Gary Blood, who is responsible for the new trucks' product strategy, design and introduction.

The CT660 and companion Class 8 models will be sold and serviced exclusively through the Cat North American dealer network. Contract production of the line will begin at Navistar’s Garland, Texas, plant following ConExpo-Con/Agg, with deliveries later in 2011.
