Teamsters organize Missouri’s All American RM

Drivers and shop staff for All American Redi Mix, Kansas City, Mo., have voted in favor of representation by IBT Local 541. The bargaining unit consists of 11 mixer or bulk drivers and a mechanic. Local 541 staff sought to organize All American RM after a market analysis by International and Western Region staff.

Feds propose stiff penalties for commercial driver hand-held cell phone use

Continuing Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s campaign against distracted driving, the DOT is proposing a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rule banning interstate commercial truck drivers’ use of hand-held cell phones while operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

Mack Trucks and McNeilus Cos. have teamed up to anchor the sixth annual CIM auction, scheduled for January 20, World of Concrete day three. The Granite-mounted mixer truck leads the pool of equipment, products, and sports or entertainment packages subject to live, silent and online bidding for auctioneers conducting the event from Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall Room N262.

Dana heads OC Building Materials, Cultured Stone group

Owens Corning has named Chuck Dana group president, Building Materials, with responsibilities for Cultured Stone, OC Masonry Products and sister businesses. He joined Owens Corning in 1996, leading its Composites business since 2002, and succeeds Karel Czanderna, who is leaving the company after a transition period. Dana and his Composites successor, Arnaud Genis, will report to Owens Corning CEO Mike Thaman.
