PCA to lawmakers: Regulations threaten repeat of oil import model in cement

In testimony before the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, PCA Chairman and Titan America CEO Aris Papadopoulos appealed for replacement of onerous regulations covering cement production with policies that promote job growth, investment certainty and responsible environmental stewardship. Subcommittee on Energy and Power Chair Ed Whitfield (R-KY) called to assess the impact of recent Environmental Protection Agency rulemakings on cement plants, boilers and utilities.

Icon Expo joins 2012, 2013 Precast Shows

On the heels of the 2011 Icon Expo, co-located with ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas, NCMA has announced that its annual trade exhibit will run in tandem with the National Precast Concrete Association’s Precast Show the next two years. Icon Expo will be staged at the 2012 and 2013 Precast Shows, scheduled March 1–3 in Orlando and January 31–February 2 in Indianapolis, respectively. NCMA and Icon Expo partners plan to offer nearly 100 hours of educational programs, product clinics and plant tours around the show schedules.

Concrete Results adds commercial-grade cladding brand, Cebu Stone

A thin, lightweight, wet cast veneer replicating the look of traditional dry cast, architectural split face block has joined Concrete Results’ exterior cladding portfolio. The company has closed on the assets and intellectual property of Cebu Stone Inc., Wabash, Ind., and will relocate mold-making and related equipment to a new regional operation in Clarksville, Tenn.
