BASF Construction Chemicals' Building Systems division was recently honored by the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) for its contributions as a material supplier/manufacturer on three 2007 projects. ICRI conducts an awards program each year to honor and recognize outstanding projects in the concrete repair industry. Entries are received from around the world, and winning projects are honored each year at an ICRI Awards Dinner and Reception.

BASF's Building Systems was honored with Awards of Excellence in Strengthening, Parking Structures, and Special Projects categories. For the Guayaquil (Ecuador) Bus Terminal Structural Reinforcement project — involving rehabilitation of a deteriorated, three-story transit structure — BASF's contribution to repairs included special high-bond repair materials and carbon fiber technology.

The largest municipal parking structure in downtown Kansas City, Mo., the Auditorium Plaza Garage (built in 1954) was suffering from severe corrosion and deterioration. As extensive concrete soffit and slab repairs were executed, the garage remained open for business.

BASF's Award of Merit in the Special Projects category was received for the Arizona State University Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. The structure underwent significant structural repairs due to corrosion-related deteriorations caused by moisture infiltration to structural elements from frequent wash-downs of the stadium after events. Repair and future protection were secured by coating the structural steel with epoxy, epoxy flood-coating concrete surfaces, and applying a urethane deck sealant.
