The latest entry in Quiet Solution's Soundproofing System product family, “Serenity” drywall (gypsum board) panel is suitable for residential and commercial construction, including home theaters, recording studios, conference rooms, multi-family dwellings — wherever noise abatement is essential. Built using a multi-layer laminating process with viscoelastic polymers, the Soundproofing System is rated by independent labs at STC 52-72 using standard single-stud construction. The ultra-light, thin (⅝-in.), reduced-cost Serenity soundproof drywall panel is said to perform exceptionally well at blocking low frequencies (e.g., 22 dB transmission loss at 65 Hz). Effective for both existing and new construction, Serenity reportedly outperforms standard drywall by 20dB and older soundboard/barrier technologies by 10-15dB or more, essentially reducing noise and sounds from adjacent rooms by an additional 90 percent.

“We can spec and use it just like drywall,” states Steve Haas, principal of SH! Acoustics. “No special construction techniques, no resilient channels, no exotic framing are required for top-notch soundproofing results.”

The patented Quiet Solution Soundproofing System is composed of five elements: QuietRock, drywall panels for walls and ceilings; QuietWood, plywood panels for floors, walls, roofs and doors; QuietGlue, a viscoelastic polymer that absorbs noise by converting kinetic energy into tiny amounts of thermal energy; QuietCoat, a viscoelastic polymer that damps steel studs, HVAC ducts and metal roofs; and, QuietSeal, a high-efficiency acoustical sealant. Each can be used individually or together as a system to achieve the highest STC ratings.

The Soundproofing System is available in three grades: the “Relief” series, with STCs in the 40s; the “Serenity” series, with STCs in the 50s; and the “Solitude” series, with STCs in the 60s and higher. The new Serenity drywall or the entire soundproofing system may be ordered from local sales offices (locations are listed at www.quietsolution.com) or by calling the company directly at 800/797-8159.
