A new 32-page color brochure provides full specifying information on four types of mechanical conveyor-belt fasteners for heavy-duty bulk-handling applications. Also presented is a selection of time-saving installation tools plus a number of accessory belt conveyor products that improve system performance while helping to minimize and simplify maintenance. The new brochure starts with a five-step guideline for specifying conveyor belt fasteners, then proceeds into separate sections detailing the alternatives of bolt solid plate, bolt hinged, BR rivet solid plate and SR rivet hinged fasteners. The SR section highlights this line's recent upgrade to patented Scalloped Edge SR design for lower profile and easier installation, plus the newest, smallest R2 size SR for medium-duty belts burdened with heavy loads or higher tensions. All fastener sections of the brochure are complete with fastener size and bolt/rivet selection charts, plus illustrated presentations of special tools and supplies for faster, safer splicing and hinge-pin alternatives where appropriate. Under the trade name of Faux Brick Stenciled Concrete, Artcrete, Inc. has introduced a new Old Chicago Brick pattern. Company officials report that it greatly simplifies the process of creating broken brick patterns on concrete, while eliminating the need for imprinting or stamping tools. The Old Chicago Brick look is obtained by laying a paper stencil onto the top of freshly floated concrete. A float or roller is then passed over the stencil to embed it into the surface. Dry shake color hardener is then applied and worked into the surface with the float. After the concrete has set sufficiently to bear weight, the paper stencil is removed. The seams or joints between the stones are covered by the stencil during the coloring process and thus remain uncolored, resembling grouted joints. Excess chips are removed with a mechanical blower, and the process is completed with the application of a curing and sealing compound.
