PennDOT Secretary of Transportation Leslie Richards joined National Park Service and other federal, state and local officials for the August 19 opening of the $9.2 million Sullivan’s Bridge, a 14-ft. wide bicycle and pedestrian trail structure spanning the Schuylkill River in Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Bridge designer and engineer Modjeski and Masters cites Pennsylvania Department of Transportation approval of standards immediately affording spliced, post-tensioned concrete U-girder options to state practitioners and structure owners. The new standards can be used for Design-Build projects, or as an Alternate Bridge Type at PennDOT District Executive discretion.
