Lehigh White Cement, the domestic business of Italy’s Cementir Holding S.p.A., has joined Baltimore-based AltusGroup, a partnership of 17 North American precasters, two international affiliates and 10 affiliated companies. As an Innovation Partner, Lehigh White will collaborate with producer members to accelerate the introduction of Aalborg Inwhite Solution Ultra High Performance Concrete, Extreme and Excel products to the North American architectural precast market. Cementir has more than 3 million tons of white portland cement capacity and operates on five continents.

Daniel Harrington has been appointed chief executive officer of a newly formed group anchored by Lehigh White Cement, a controlling stake in which was recently secured by Aalborg Cement Company Inc. through parent Cementir Holding S.p.A., Italy. He will lead Cementir Region North America, spanning Lehigh White Cement, with Pennsylvania and Texas plants, plus Vianini Pipe Inc., New Jersey-based reinforced concrete pipe producer.

Heidelberg to exit Lehigh White Cement partnership with Cemex, Aalborg

Lehigh Hanson parent company HeidelbergCement will sell its 51 percent stake in Lehigh White Cement Co. to minority shareholders in a deal valued at about $140 million and scheduled for first quarter closing. Ownership of Lehigh White Cement, which has 280,000 tons’ capacity in York, Pa., and Waco, Texas, plants, will be split between Aalborg Cement Co. (63.25 percent), a North American business of Denmark-based Aalborg Portland Holding A/S, and Cemex Inc. (36.75 percent).
