Ernst, Gage, Lauren define ‘Advanced Concrete Plants’ at WOC session

Ernst Enterprises, Gage Brothers Concrete Products and Lauren Concrete representatives will present their new Georgia, South Dakota and Texas facilities in “Advanced Concrete Plants – Raising the Bar,” a February 3 education session at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Scheduled the day prior to the opening of World of Concrete exhibits, the program will offer perspective on design and permitting challenges behind Ernst Concrete’s wet/dry alley College Park Plant, Gage Brothers’ new Sioux Falls precast/prestressed flagship and Lauren Concrete’s Dripping Springs transit mixed satellite.

Two veterans nearing 90 years combined at Gage Brothers Concrete Products Inc. held the ribbon for a mid-2019 dedication of their new workspace, arguably North America’s most advanced, large-scale precast/prestressed operation. They were joined by 250 other team members making a clean break from a heritage, 30-acre site in Sioux Falls, S.D., with 13 buildings or shops, including one from which William Gage launched his concrete construction business in 1915. Located about 10 miles from the former flagship, the new, two-building facility occupies 45 acres within an 850-acre industrial zone on the southeast corner of Sioux Falls.

PCI Foundation’s BBQ competition cooks up $52k for education programs

The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Foundation kicked off its first national barbecue competition and fundraiser with more than 2,800 participants taking part in 13 events sponsored by eight companies. The program raised $52,374 for the PCI Foundation to sponsor precast education programs in schools of architecture, engineering and construction management.
