The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Operations, Environmental and Safety Committee begins 2018 with a new name: Safety, Environmental and Operations Excellence (SEO) Committee. The NRMCA Board prompted the change while also creating the Work Force Development Committee, responsible for human resource matters specific to ready mixed concrete, and superseding the former OES HR Task Group.

James Bogdan has joined National Ready Mixed Concrete Association as senior director, Sustainability Initiatives. Based in Pittsburgh, he will help position members to meet new requirements in such green building standards as LEED and Green Globes. Initiatives include product sustainability and transparency, supply chain sustainability, and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

The American Coal Ash Association Educational Foundation awarded $7,500 in scholarships to two university students with interests in advancing the sustainable and environmentally responsible use of coal combustion products. The Foundation also announced new names for the scholarships honoring coal ash beneficial use industry leaders.
