Clark Pacific secures 2,000-piece San Francisco 49ers stadium contract

A joint venture of Turner Construction and Devcon Construction charged with design-build delivery of a $1.2 billion, 68,500-seat stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., has awarded the precast contract to West Sacramento-based Clark Pacific. Designed by architect HNTB, the new home to the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise is scheduled to open for the 2014 season, making the venue the first new NFL stadium built in California in 50 years.

Hanson reaches midpoint of 20-mile highway project

Hanson Pipe & Precast was selected by Base Construction to provide more than 130,000 ft. of precast concrete pipe, box culverts and inlets for the McLennan County IH-35 project located near Waco, Texas. Construction began in October 2010; Hanson’s products are used to move and manage basic stormwater runoff in the project designed to ease traffic congestion by widening nearly 20 miles of highway and frontage roads. Completion is projected for late 2014.

Carolinas Cement permit advances Titan America’s integration ‘Ideal’

Officials from Carolinas Cement Co. in Wilmington, N.C., announced recently that parent company Titan America LLC was issued an air quality permit from the Division of Air Quality (DAQ) of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) to construct a proposed 2.4 million-tons/year-capacity cement plant in Castle Hayne. The permit issuance comes after four years of technical review of the proposed facility and is a major step toward an integrated North Carolina operation, as Castle Hayne is strategic to the S&W Ready Mix business acquired by Titan in 2007.
