Eagle Builders gantry crane fleet approaches 300 tons’ capacity

One of western Canada’s major players in precast concrete structure design, engineering and fabrication solves weighty material handling equations with rubber-tired iron from British Columbia’s Kendrick Equipment: One ISL50B, two ISL70B and two SB50 Shuttlelift gantry cranes.

With 290 tons of outdoor lifting muscle and 150,000 square feet of enclosed plant area, Alberta-based Eagle Builders tailors precast solutions for public or private projects from Manitoba to Vancouver Island. Director Crain Haan underscores the torsion flex in the ISL and SB model corners. “Not having a rigid connection is an advantage. We felt that other designs may crack based on our undulating yard,” he adds. “Shuttlelift cranes help us move and store product more efficiently. As our company expands our yard has had to expand with us.”

The gantry cranes help Eagle Builders keep production and staging on track. The producer is presently working on a YVR Vancouver International Airport parking deck, the largest such structure in western Canada, and continues to fabricate efficient, NU bulb tee girders of near-record scale (> 55 meters, 115 tons). — Shuttlelift, Sturgeon Bay, Wis., 920/743-6202; www.shuttlelift.com
