Mutual Materials’ downtown masonry showroom captures urban vibe

A key concrete or clay masonry and hardscape products player throughout the Pacific Northwest has scheduled a late-March opening of a new concept design showroom in downtown Portland, Ore.

The facility marks a milestone for Mutual Materials in servicing area architects, landscape or interior designers, and homeowners. It will feature a modern storefront with samples and rotating displays of stone veneer, brick, Slimbrick, concrete masonry and hardscape units. A private meeting room will enable design professionals and owners to plan projects with a library of product samples nearby. In contrast to a typical Mutual Materials branch located in the suburbs with pallets of products ready for pickup, the showroom will not stock brick, block and veneer onsite, but can provide samples and place orders for local delivery or pickup at a nearby branch location.

The Portland showroom will be Mutual Materials’ sixth such location in Oregon and first in an urban center. With convenient transit access in downtown Portland’s trending Slabtown area— a vibrant, high-density neighborhood with restaurants, coffee shops, bars, housing, offices and public green spaces—the facility is readily accessible to customers and prospects. Moreover, notes Mutual Materials President Kendall Anderegg, “Slabtown itself is a real-world showroom of our products. In a quick walk around the neighborhood people may see Mutual Materials brick in colors of red, brown, black and white incorporated into modern and classic building designs.”
