Lehigh Hanson Materials Ltd. has entered a 10-year agreement to market fly ash from the SaskPower Shand Power Station, boosting annual supply potential from the province to 215,000 tonnes. A supply contract follows a similar 2012 agreement covering fly ash from SaskPower’s Boundary Dam Power Station.

A $5 million Travelers Cos. fund will assist Connecticut customers whose homes exhibit concrete deterioration associated with expansion attributed to pyrrhotite, an iron sulfide-bearing compound identified in aggregate from a Willington, Conn. quarry. The voluntary Travelers Benefit Program offers up to $25,000 and $10,000, respectively, to current and past policyholders whose repair costs exceed awards from the recently launched Connecticut Foundations Solutions Indemnity Company (CFSIC).

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia has obtained a $700,567 judgment against Andrew Nolan, a former quality control manager for Pennsylvania-based Universal Concrete Products Corp. The fine follows an August 2018 agreement in which he pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud by falsifying air content test results on the federally funded Dulles Metrorail Project in northern Virginia.

Concrete and masonry contractor-driven Construction Supply Group has expanded its Southwest and Upper Midwest presence, closing deals for Dallas-based All-Tex Supply Inc., with two Oklahoma and three Texas branches; Northville, Mich.-based Masonpro Inc., with one Ohio, two Indiana and six Michigan locations; and, Titan Construction Supply in Reno, Nev. They join 10 other businesses acquired since the late-2016 launch of CSG, now positioned as the second largest distributor of its kind in North America. The company has nearly 100 branches, payroll exceeding 1,350, and more than 60,000 stockkeeping units for 50,000-plus customers.

GFG Alliance has entered a binding agreement to purchase all of the outstanding stock in Keystone Consolidated Industries Inc., Dallas, from holding company Contran Corp. It projects a closing of the $320 million deal by year end and will integrate the business with an existing portfolio company, Liberty Steel USA, based at a Georgetown, S.C., mill acquired in late-2017 from Arcelor Mittal.
