ACI will close the year with $1 million in funding for the ACI Foundation, which supports research, scholarships, new technologies and issues of strategic importance to the concrete industry. Double ACI’s annual $500,000 commitment for the separately managed Foundation, the 2018 tally includes one-time contributions totaling $486,000 plus funding for a new Middle East Fellowship.

This year has seen the ACI Foundation award 19 scholarships and fellowships, fund eight new concrete research projects, and invest in initiatives to advance new technology adoption. In addition to ACI, the Foundation receives contributions from ACI chapters, corporate donors, and individuals within the concrete community. In 2019, trustees expect to fund additional research and new strategic initiatives, while also administering fellowships and scholarships for up to 20 students.

“[Our] commitment to research, scholarships, and new technologies is demonstrated through the increased funding to the Foundation,” says ACI Executive Vice President Ron Burg. “The work of the Foundation is guaranteed to improve ACI’s technical knowledge and make our world stronger and safer.”
