Volumetric Mixer Bureau launches operator certification

The Volumetric Mixer Manufacturers Bureau, a National Ready Mixed Concrete Association affiliate, has finalized certification criteria aimed at building operator professionalism and providing proof of industry-specific knowledge. The Volumetric Mixer Operator Certification Program can be used to provide a career path while improving customer service skills, along with company and industry image. Open to candidates with at least three months’ on-the-job experience, the NRMCA-administered program spans Safety, Concrete Technology, Volumetric Operation and Maintenance, and Customer and Company Relations sections. Each is covered in a VMMB workbook outlining a standard of knowledge and skills a professional volumetric mixer operator should possess.

The Bureau program tests certification candidates’ knowledge of safety protocol, concrete materials, equipment operation and maintenance, plus customer relations basics.

Certification is attained through completion of a training program and 65-question exam. Training materials, testing protocol and additional information are posted at www.vmmb.org. Questions on the certification process or program content can be directed to NRMCA Compliance and Operations Executive Vice President Gary Mullings, [email protected], 240/485-1161, or Senior Vice President Kevin Walgenbach, [email protected], 240/485-1157.

Founded in 1999 as an NRMCA affiliate, VMMB promotes concrete production and delivery using the equipment of members Bay-Lynx Manufacturing, Cemen Tech, Custom-Crete, Elkin Hi-Tech, ProAll Reimer Mixers, and Zimmerman Industries.
