NRMCA is accepting through July 27 nominations for the second annual Safety Award, acknowledging the contribution of safety-driven work practices to individual producer and industry success. The award is presented to an individual, company or organization whose actions—demonstrated in single incident or long-term commitment—represent the highest in the advancement of safety for ready mixed concrete production and delivery.

Criteria for nominees can include evidence of: accident or incident reduction; demonstration of leadership in safety; hazard identification, evaluation and control; development of safety-conscious policies and procedures; active promotion of workplace safety; innovation and enthusiasm in marketing safety; collaborative and proactive work towards improving safety; placing a high personal value on safety; and, mentoring of others in safety. Nominations should include a) detailed explanation for why the individual, company or organization warrant consideration for the award; and, b) necessary supporting documents plus high-resolution images of the nominee or company/organization logo, plus other relevant artwork. Entries should be sent to NRMCA Executive Vice President, Compliance & Operations Gary Mullings, [email protected]. Additional details can be obtained here.

NRMCA is also accepting through month’s end entries for the Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards competition, which recognizes producer members for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound management practice in their operations. The program salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance measures and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment.

Any NRMCA member company producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada is eligible to enter. Awards will be determined upon individual plant merits. Winning entrants will be honored at the ConcreteWorks conference in October, and featured in late-2018 editions of NRMCA’s InFocus as well as Concrete Products. Entry and image files should be sent to Gary Mullings, [email protected], by July 27. Additional information on the program can be obtained here.
