Solomon secures pigment process patent, brings granule production in house

Solomon Colors recently commenced full-scale ColorFlo SG Granular Pigment production at its Illinois headquarters. Using an innovative, patented process, it produces granular pigment that meets or exceeds the color development, flowability, dispersion, and dusting properties of other granular pigments in low and high slump applications, product developers contend. Unique granulation methods and high production tolerances, they add, make ColorFlo SG Granular well suited to manufactured concrete products or ready mixed.

Solomon Colors engineered the granulator, shown here at the Illinois flagship plant, and landed a patent for the ColorFlo SG process. As with other manufactured or ready mixed concrete offerings, the company tailors systems for ColorFlo SG dispensing.

Solomon Colors developed the unique process for ColorFlo SG over a five-year period, with an additional year spent building the manufacturing facility and running production trials. The process yields a granular pigment that is readily dispensed by all major color systems for block & paver plants, as well as Solomon Colors’ own systems. As one of the few color providers self-producing granules in North America, company officials note, Solomon Colors is uniquely able to readily meet demands of all sizes with consistent, domestically processed product.
