Commission investigates dumping of quartz surface products from China

Responding to Cambria Co. petitions that allege dumping of slab and fabricated quartz surface products from China, the five-member U.S. International Trade Commission has issued a unanimous preliminary determination of injury and will continue investigation of company claims. A key player in high quartz content (> 90 percent) slabs used for countertops and premium interior furnishings, family-owned Cambria petitioned ITC and the U.S. Department of Commerce in April.

Early World of Concrete 2019 metrics bode well for attendees, exhibitors

In its recently completed space draw for World of Concrete 2019, show management secured 970-plus exhibitors booking more than 676,000 net square feet of Las Vegas Convention Center indoor and outdoor space. With seven months remaining until the January 22-25 gathering, Informa Exhibitions anticipates significant growth over the 2018 staging, which drew 58,000 registered professionals and 1,564 manufacturers, suppliers or service providers occupying nearly 750,000 square feet.

CRH Americas Products chief Haas to lead new Building Products division

Oldcastle Inc. parent CRH will consolidate its Americas Products franchises—Oldcastle Architectural, BuildingEnvelope, Precast—plus Europe Lightside and Distribution businesses in a new global Building Products division, effective January 2019. Americas Products President Keith Haas will lead the business, operating alongside Americas and Europe Materials divisions. Europe Lightside and Distribution President David Dillon will shift to Global Strategy & Business Development, maintaining his title and reporting to CRH CEO Albert Manifold.
