The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recognizes the unique structure of Solidia Concrete, designed and produced with conventional aggregates and processes, but bearing an alternative to hydraulic binders that reacts with carbon dioxide versus water. U.S. Patent No. 9,868,667, “Bonding Element, Bonding Matrix and Composite Material Having the Bonding Element and Method of Manufacturing Thereof,” covers the composition of matter of the distinctive, non-hydraulic, CO2-cured concrete available as Solidia Concrete.

Concrete Cloth GCCM (Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat) proves its mettle in the Myra Falls Ditch Lining project, where engineers have upgraded storm water diversion infrastructure for a Vancouver Island zinc and copper mine. The challenging installation covers 11,125 square meters of a material equal to high water velocities (> 18 meters per second) and profile variances to accommodate the remote terrain. A flexible, cement-impregnated fabric that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, waterproof and fireproof layer, Concrete Cloth also lends itself to ease of repair in a remote location if future damage should occur due to falling trees or boulders from the hillside above the ditch.

Daimler tests 3D-printed parts for Freightliner, Western Star

Daimler Trucks North America has begun a pilot program for plastic parts produced using 3D printing technologies, which the manufacturer sees as soon playing a significant role in heavy-duty fleet maintenance. More importantly, management notes, DTNA views 3D printing as an opportunity to better serve customers, particularly those needing parts that have been difficult to provide through traditional supply chains due to truck age or very low or intermittent demand.
