Mack and McNeilus, Kenworth and Con-Tech power 2018 CIM Auction

Continuing their tradition of backing Concrete Industry Management degree programs at California, New Jersey, Tennessee and Texas universities, McNeilus Cos. and Mack Trucks Inc. donated the first of two 2018 CIM Auction centerpieces: A 10.5-yd. M77 transit mixer mounted on a Granite Axle Back model. The companies’ consistent support, notes CIM Auction Chairman Mike Philipps, “speaks volumes to their commitment to the concrete industry and importance they place on the CIM program.”

The 2018 GU813 Granite 6×4 Axle Back features a Mack MP7-375M engine rated at 375 hp and 1,360 lb.-ft. of torque; Mack mDRIVE HD 14-speed automated manual transmission; Mack FXL23 and S462 front and rear axles; and, HMX 460 suspension. The 10.5-yd. McNeilus M77 has a 46-in. paver opening and ¼-in. thick fins; Eaton 5.4-cu.-in. pump and motor; 5-ft. main plus 30-in. transitional fold-over chutes; and, 125-gal. steel water tank.

The Kenworth T880S has a set-forward axle with Paccar MX-11 engine rated at 430 hp and 1,650 lb.-ft. of torque; Allison transmission; Meritor axles; Watson & Chalin lift axle; Hendrickson rear suspension; plus Alcoa wheels and Bridgestone tires. The BridgeKing has a Con-Tech 11-yd. High Performance Drum; ZF P7300 gear box; Eaton pump and motor with RE Controls; Armor Tech wiring harness system; EcoWash rear pedestal system; and, 125-gal. aluminum water tank.

As he and CIM National Steering Committee members tallied items up for bid on January 24 in Las Vegas, Kenworth Truck and Con-Tech Manufacturing announced the donation of a second auction centerpiece: An 11-yd. BridgeKing mounted on a T880S model. Kenworth Truck Assistant General Manager for Sales and Marketing Kevin Baney calls the donation from his company, plus Kenworth of Central Florida, Con-Tech and other valued supplier partners, “an excellent way to support CIM’s very important program [of developing] concrete industry leaders of the future.”

“This mixer and truck unit will go a long way to help us achieve our fundraising goal,” affirms National Steering Committee Executive Director Eugene Martineau. “We are excited to have Kenworth and Con-Tech join our long-term major CIM Auction donors[:] World of Concrete, Ritchie Brothers, Mack Trucks, McNeilus Companies, Cemex USA, LehighHanson, LafargeHolcim, Somero Enterprises and Command Alkon. Because of their generosity and that of all donors stepp[ing] up to support the CIM program, we have the potential for our greatest auction ever.”

Committee members aim to open next year’s fundraising by eclipsing the $875,000 in 2017 CIM Auction gross receipts. Staged in Las Vegas Convention Center Room N262 on World of Concrete day two, the 2018 auction will have silent bidding from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and live bidding beginning at 1 p.m. Online bidding will be available on the website of auctioneer Ritchie Bros., www.rbauction.com, to individuals registering a week in advance. Live-auction participants can register on-site. A full list of items up for bid is posted at www.concretedegree.com/auction.
