Oldcastle Architectural ups InsulTech design options, flexibility with 6-in. unit

Oldcastle Architectural’s Echelon brand has launched the InsulTech Concrete Masonry System’s Half-High product line as an extension to its popular full high product. The system features about a dozen profiles—in finished nominal dimensions of 12 ¼ x 4 x 16 inches—offering more flexibility and options for architects designing hospitals, schools and other institutions, while meeting building codes.

All InsulTech concrete masonry units and thin veneer faces are produced with RainBloc Integral Water Repellant or other Oldcastle-approved water repellant admixtures

InsulTech Half-High products make up a complete, thermally broken insulated system, which includes a full complement of masonry units. The system offers high thermal efficiency in an innovative design combining a pre-assembled structural masonry unit, with a molded High-Performance Neopor EPS insulation insert, and thin veneer face to provide a 16.2 R-Value at 75°F. Internal stainless steel metal anchors molded into the EPS inserts ensures safety connection to the back wall providing wind-load resistance and integrity for fire safety. Additionally, molded drainage channels within the EPS inserts, combined with compliant closed cell gasket material with drainage perforations, provide continuous insulation, air tightness and superior moisture management. The InsulTech Insulated Concrete Masonry Systems are available in both standard finishes as well as Trenwyth Stone Veneer’s variety of colors and textures.

“InsulTech has proven to be a perfect way to upgrade the performance of your project with acoustical comfort, energy efficiency and moisture management with a complete, pre-assembled system,” says Ken O’Neill, EVP, Sales Marketing & Product Development for Oldcastle Architectural. “The introduction of InsulTech’s Half-High product line provides even more design options for architects, designers and masonry professionals.”

Since its launch in 2014, InsulTech has won several publisher’s awards judged by architects for its design functionality, versatility, and ability to meet industry needs with reduced installation time and material costs. With excellent energy efficiency, the system meets 2012/2015 IECC energy codes from Zones 1 through 7.
