Pipe Association chief Childs moves to senior HawkeyePedershaab post

After nearly 12 years as American Concrete Pipe Association president, Matt Childs has joined pipe and precast machinery specialist HawkeyePedershaab as vice president of Sales, responsible for the North American market. Concurrently, Brad Schmidgall has been promoted to executive vice president of Sales in charge of developing HawkeyePedershaab’s global sales strategies.

Childs, whose served as ACPA director of Engineering Services prior to taking the helm, is credited with leading an expansion of the association into all corners of the industry and recruiting a top technical team to help producer members expand concrete pipe market share. After studying at Baylor University, he proceeded to the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a bachelor’s and master’s in Civil Engineering. Prior to joining ACPA in 2000, he worked as project engineer and project manager with two Fort Worth engineering firms specializing in infrastructure design.
