Oldcastle Precast has extended its deep presence in specialty structures for telecommunications and utility customers by acquiring the assets of Cell Blocks Inc., whose proprietary, post-tensioned foundation systems support tower installations of key U.S. wireless carriers AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

The Jackson, Calif., company’s modular systems are configured to meet the unique requirements of each cellular tower or other utility equipment structure, and typically require only one day for construction. The acquisition complements Oldcastle Precast’s product offering and positions the producer to serve growing demand from all major carriers as they continue developing their wireless infrastructure.

“We are excited to build on our strategy to provide a comprehensive line of innovative solutions to telecommunications projects nationwide,” says Oldcastle Precast National Sales President Dave Wadlington. “This acquisition will complement [our] line of telecommunication shelters and other wireless infrastructure solutions.”

Cell Blocks technical project consultant Phil Colflesh, P.E. will lead foundation system integration into the Oldcastle Precast national product offering. Former Cell Blocks owners James Fey and Richard Erich will be retained as part of the team, assisting in a smooth and transparent transition.
