Terex transitions Mixer Trucks business

Terex Corp. has shifted its Fort Wayne, Ind.-based front discharge mixer truck business from the Construction Americas specialty products portfolio to the Materials Processing segment. Terex Mixer Trucks joins Fuchs material handlers, Bid-Well automatic roller pavers, plus Powerscreen, Finlay and other minerals processing and washing equipment.

“Mixer Trucks are a longstanding and important part of the [corporate] portfolio [and] positioned in a strong business segment where they can expand and continue to help their customers meet production goals,” says Terex Mixer Trucks and Bid-Well General Manager John Leech. “This has been a seamless transition that has not affected customers. The only visible change is our new Director of Customer Engagement Strategy, Sales and Service Organization Mark Aubry. He is an excellent addition to the team and offers a wealth of sales and marketing experience.”

Aubry replaces cement and concrete industry veteran David Rinas, who held the director of Sales position since 2008, and announced his planned retirement earlier this year. Aubry now leads all customer-facing activities, including sales, service and aftermarket parts teams. In addition, his responsibilities include the development and implementation of a strategic sales plan to enhance customer interaction, grow market share, and achieve company goals and objectives. Prior to joining Terex Mixer Trucks, he served in sales & marketing management capacities for the components division of a Canadian alternative fuel transportation company, plus multinational truck and aerial work platform manufacturers.

“Dave (Rinas) has successfully led the business through one of the deepest market downturns in history and positioned the truck segment for growth,” says Aubry. “The Terex front discharge mixer truck design is solid and offers many production-enhancing features. I am excited to work with our talented team and ready mixed truck operators to help grow their businesses.”

Rinas’ career spans nearly 40 years, beginning with asphalt plant and equipment manufacturer Standard Havens in 1977. His cement and concrete tenure started in 1986 and spanned vice president-level posts with Holcim (US) Inc., (pre-Buzzi) Lonestar Industries and Lehigh Cement, leading into the Terex Mixer Trucks management appointment. During the 2009-12 economic downturn, when front discharge mixer builders saw demand decreases up to 90 percent, Rinas also held the position of interim general manager. While truck production was temporarily halted from 2011 through most of 2012, he led a core group of team members to implement Lean manufacturing principles at the Fort Wayne factory and re-engineer the front discharge truck design with new customer-requested features. Market rebound since the production stoppage has Terex Mixer Trucks anticipating 2017 production upward of 1,000 units.

“Over the years, I have witnessed the evolution, transformation and resiliency of the construction materials and equipment business from several perspectives,” Rinas observes. “I have been fortunate to have several mentors during my career and have met hundreds of friends, colleagues, and, most importantly, customers along the way. Clearly the industry will continue to transform and evolve as I depart the business, and Terex has selected the right person in Mark Aubry, with the experience and skills to lead the evolution of Terex Mixer Trucks to meet the market’s needs.”
