Jon Morrish has transitioned to Lehigh Hanson Inc. president and chief executive officer from his post as South Region president. He succeeds the retiring Daniel Harrington, who during five years at the helm is credited with managing the business through one of the worst economic downturns in recent history, capitalizing on market recovery, and positioning the company for future growth.

Prior to the Lehigh Hanson South Region appointment, Morrish was managing director of the Hanson Cement and Concrete businesses in the United Kingdom, joining Hanson Plc in 1999. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Cranfield School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Leeds University.

The Lehigh Hanson executive transition was announced as part of a managing board realignment at German parent HeidelbergCement AG, which in preparation for a merger with Italcementi S.p.A.—scheduled by mid-2016—has defined a new management structure around five geographic areas. Morrish will join the managing board in February, responsible for North America, while four counterparts oversee cement, aggregate and concrete businesses in Western and Southern Europe, Northern and Eastern Europe-Central Asia, and Asia-Pacific areas.

“The composition of the managing board with complementary members, their comprehensive market knowledge and long-term operative experience as well as technological expertise are an important factor of success for HeidelbergCement,” notes Chairman Dr. Bernd Scheifele. “The new appointments stand for a generation change and are also a sign of continuity in the top management of the company on its way to becoming one of the largest building materials groups in the world.”
