Quality Concrete has evolved from Dartmouth Ready Mix

A strategic partnership with Lafarge Canada will position Quality Concrete Ltd. with upwards of 20 ready mixed plants in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. A Halifax ChronicleHerald report with limited detail on the partnership structure notes that Lafarge is contributing nine ready mixed and four aggregate plants to the business, while maintaining its Brookfield, N.S., cement operation.

“This expanded Quality Concrete will bring tremendous benefits to our Atlantic Canada customers, and strengthen our position as a leader in the ready mix concrete and aggregate markets,” says Scott Stevens, vice president of Quality Concrete parent, Stevens Group.

Quality Concrete President Mel Fiander will head the integrated business in tandem with Vice President of Operations Alex Kennedy, who had served as Lafarge ready mix and aggregates general manager. Formerly Dartmouth Ready Mix Ltd., Quality Concrete brings the partnership one Moncton, N.B., and 10 Nova Scotia ready mixed plants. Under the Stevens Group, Quality Concrete has sister businesses including B.D. Stevens Ltd., a design-build general contractor specializing in tilt-up concrete; and, Duracast, a producer of Redi-Rock, Redi-Scapes and Rosetta concrete hardscape units for decorative or structural applications.
