National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and Missouri University of Science & Technology invite abstracts for the 2016 Self-Consolidating Concrete Conference and the International Concrete Sustainability Conference (ICSC), May 15-18 in Washington, D.C. Engineers, architects, public works officials, material suppliers, researchers, academics, students, contractors and concrete industry professionals are encouraged to share their research, experiences and accomplishments in advancing SCC and sustainable concrete design, production and construction.
SCC 2016 abstracts can be submitted through the event portal, www.scc2016.com. Combining the 8th International RILEM Symposium on Self-Compacting Concrete and the 6th North American Conference on Design and Use of Self-Consolidating Concrete, SCC 2016 promises to be one of the most highly attended gatherings since the highly fluid material’s commercialization. Abstracts are encouraged on topics ranging from SCC materials and design methodology to production and quality control. Performance measurement, economics and sustainability of SCC are also topics for consideration.
2016 ICSC abstracts are due October 30 and can be submitted via www.2016icsc.org. Now in its 11th year, the conference makes its way to the U.S. capital for the first time and will again feature a wide range of topics related to innovations in concrete sustainability. Abstracts are encouraged on topics ranging from resilience and low impact development to life cycle assessment and material science. Topics related to corporate social responsibility are also encouraged.
Next year marks the first time SCC and ICSC will be co-located. Lead sponsors NRMCA and Missouri S&T see the combined gatherings providing learning and networking opportunities on the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research, tools and solutions for SCC and sustainable-concrete production, design and construction.
NRMCA ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD DEADLINE
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is accepting through July 31 entries in the Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards competition, recognizing sound environmental protection and operations management practices. The program salutes producers who surpass regulatory compliance measures and demonstrate environmental excellence commitment through plant and staff investment. NRMCA members producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada are eligible to enter.
Awards will be determined upon individual plant merits; companies may choose to enter plants from any or all the five annual production volume categories, from 25,000 yd. to 250,000-plus yd. Entries and image files must be relayed to NRMCA Senior Vice President Gary Mullings, [email protected], by month’s end. Winning operations and their owners will be recognized at the 2015 ConcreteWorks Conference & Expo, September 19-21 in San Antonio, and an upcoming issue of Concrete Products.
