The NRMCA Research Engineering and Standards (RES) Committee has revised Guide to Improving Specifications for Ready Mixed Concrete (2PE004) to reflect the recently released ACI 318-14, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete. First published in 2009, the document is a tool for ready mixed producers to minimize prescriptive provisions in actual project specifications and encourage performance-based solutions.

Available in PDF as a free download, the 28-page document follows the format used in typical Office Master Specification, Section 03300; includes only sections pertinent to ready mixed concrete; and, provides architects or engineers rationale for suggested specification language. Print versions of Guide to Improving Specifications for Ready Mixed Concrete can be obtained from NRMCA Manager, Customer Service Jacques Jenkins, [email protected]. Suggestions for future revisions to the guide can be directed to NRMCA Senior Vice President, Engineering Colin Lobo, [email protected].
