The association and producer members have distributed shirts among University of Kentucky, University of Louisville and Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, students, while securing sticker spots on cars and trucks, and in offices and bars.

Reports Detail Pavement Subbase Optimization, Erosion Potential

Developed at the Texas Transportation Institute, “Design Methodology for Subgrades and Bases Under Concrete Roads” and “Parking Lots and Test Methods & Results of Erosion Potential of Commonly Used Subgrade and Base Materials” are the culmination of research on best practices for identifying potential erosion problems before pavement is placed, and avoiding costs in overdesigned subbases. The publications are the latest additions to the Ready Mixed Concrete Research & Education Foundation library.

Southeast Market Reawakening Drives Georgia Plant Upgrade

Eyeing prospects for its namesake prestressed plank and wall products throughout the Southeast, Spancrete is upgrading a Newnan, Ga., plant. The Waukesha, Wis.-based producer projects full operation in January and a near-term payroll up to 40 at the property, located about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. “This is a unique opportunity to make the most of an existing site, so we’re able to impact the community right away,” says Spancrete Southeast Region General Manager Kristin Szymczak.

As reported by Pittsburgh-based Total Trib Media, the buyout of retiring owner Denny Robbins adds a Crawford County plant to Lampus’ Allegheny, Beaver, Erie and Lawrence county sites, and dovetails a recent brick distribution and retail showroom expansion.
