NPCA seeks precast plants for Sustainability Program pilot

The NPCA Sustainability Committee plans to enlist 10 precast producers across North America to test software calculating three environmental impact factors tied to mix designs and plant operations: global warming potential, primary energy consumption and water use. The Excel-based program enables users to benchmark and track progress against baseline impact numbers.

The pilot project requires no financial commitment and participants are assured their plant data will be kept completely confidential. NPCA staff will present a webinar to train users on data entry and assessment, and provide ongoing support over a 12-month period. Software calculations and measurements stand to help precast operators who want to increase efficiency, lower operating costs and decrease a plant’s environmental impact. Additional details on pilot participation can be obtained from NPCA Director of Sustainability and Technical Education Claude Goguen, 317/582-2328; [email protected].
