CONCRETE EMPLOYEE SAFETY DVD

The American Society of Concrete Contractors Safety & Risk Management Council (SRMC) has released a new Employee Safety Orientation DVD for concrete contractors. Shot on active concrete construction sites, it covers alcohol and substance abuse, personal protective equipment, pre-task planning, hand and power tools, fire prevention, excavation and trenching, handling fresh concrete, forming, rebar, pumping, hazardous materials and much more. An accompanying User Guide explains how to use the DVD most effectively and contains sample test questions.

“This 40 minute presentation on the basics of concrete construction safety topics can be used by concrete contractors to educate new employees, and as a refresher for seasoned workers,” says SRMC Chair Janet Greco.

The specialty council is dedicated to “making ASCC members the safest contractors in the concrete industry,” with a board consisting of safety and insurance professionals from all aspects of concrete contracting. Activities include publication development, review and monitoring of ASCC events and materials for safety compliance, member education, maintaining a safety awards program, and staffing a safety hotline. www.ascconline.org
