State Representatives approved the Concrete Masonry Education Act, creating a Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council as a direct support organization under the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

Bound for Florida Governor Rick Scott, the bill positions concrete masonry producers to contribute voluntary assessments in a fund that would support workforce development, research, education, and promotion of concrete masonry within the Sunshine State. “Our construction market is poised for growth. As a result of overwhelming support of this initiative by our block producers, this program will enable us to ensure that designers understand how to take advantage of concrete masonry’s attributes and that they have an adequate supply of craft workers,” affirms Masonry Association of Florida Executive Director Pat McLaughlin.
